The college’s existing drinking-water facilities were outdated and struggled to meet demand. Maintenance callouts and periods of downtime made it difficult to provide dependable access to water in high-footfall student areas.
Some installations also needed attention to exposed cables and pipework. The college wanted a more practical, presentable solution that could support its programme to reduce single-use plastic.
With 20 locations to upgrade across five campuses, the project required careful planning. Each installation had different space and service requirements, including some tight areas where a compact footprint was essential.
Following consultation and detailed site surveys, we specified 20 Refill Hub bottle filling stations. The freestanding units combine rapid bottle filling with filtered, chilled water, touch-free operation and integrated bottle counters. Each was customised in the college’s colours and incorporated its logo.
Our team worked closely with the college’s facilities team to plan each installation. We adapted units to accommodate standard and curved skirting boards, water feeds arriving from above or the side, and both standard and pumped waste arrangements.
This approach allowed us to fit the stations into the available spaces while addressing the differing technical requirements across the campuses. Water Refill Group managed specification, supply, customisation and installation, followed by handover and service and maintenance support.
Students and staff now have access to modern, rapid bottle filling stations in the areas they use throughout the day. The new installations improve the presentation of the college’s drinking-water facilities and make reusable bottles easier to refill.
The branded finish gives the stations a consistent appearance across the five campuses, while their bottle counters provide a way to track future usage. The rollout supports the college’s single-use plastic reduction programme and establishes a more practical refill setup for its busy student spaces.
